Product Overview

Clear Epoxy Resin System for Artificial Water and Transparent Encapsulation

YG102AB is a two-component epoxy resin system developed for decorative applications where a transparent, smooth and visually clean cured result is required. The system consists of YG102A resin and YG102B hardener and is mixed at an A:B ratio of 1:1 by weight.

At 25°C, the mixed material has a typical viscosity of 600 ±100 mPa·s. This moderate flow supports controlled pouring into decorative containers, molds and display assemblies while remaining fluid enough for transparent encapsulation work. The formulation is also described as having good natural bubble-release behavior, an important processing characteristic where visible bubbles and pinholes may affect the appearance of clear decorative pieces.

The primary positioning of YG102AB is artificial water effects, artificial flower water displays, decorative resin objects and transparent encapsulation. It can be cured under room-temperature or heat-assisted conditions, giving manufacturers flexibility when planning different production environments and curing schedules.

Compared with general-purpose casting applications, YG102AB is better suited to projects where transparent appearance, controlled encapsulation and artificial water effects are the primary requirements. The current technical specification does not define a maximum pour depth, so the product should not be positioned as a deep-pour casting resin without additional application testing.

Key Performance Advantages

Performance Designed for Clear Decorative Encapsulation

YG102AB combines processing characteristics that are particularly relevant to transparent decorative casting. Its value is not based on a single extreme property, but on the balance between flow, bubble release, transparent appearance and practical curing control.

Clear Decorative Appearance
The product is designed for transparent encapsulation and artificial water applications where the material itself remains visually exposed. After curing, the specification describes a transparent, smooth and clean surface with a visually attractive molded appearance.
For artificial water effects and clear decorative displays, this helps maintain visibility of flowers, decorative elements and other embedded objects.

Natural Bubble Release
The formulation is described as having good natural defoaming performance. This is particularly useful in transparent resin applications because trapped bubbles, pinholes and internal voids are more visible than in opaque systems.
The processing instructions further recommend allowing the mixed material to stand for approximately 2–3 minutes after mixing to support natural bubble release before pouring.

Moderate Processing Viscosity
YG102AB has a mixed viscosity of approximately 600 ±100 mPa·s at 25°C.
This provides enough flow for controlled encapsulation and decorative pouring while avoiding the need to position the material as an extremely low-viscosity penetration resin.

Temperature-Dependent Working & Curing Time
Processing speed changes significantly with temperature. For a 100 g reference batch, working time decreases from approximately 60 minutes at 5°C to 30 minutes at 25°C, allowing production teams to plan batch size and handling sequence according to actual environmental conditions.

Is YG102AB Right for Your Application?

Is This Artificial Water Epoxy Resin Right for Your Process?

Selecting a clear epoxy system should be based on the actual casting size, required working time, visual effect and curing conditions rather than product appearance alone.

Choose YG102AB when…

Choose this grade when your application requires a transparent two-component epoxy resin primarily for artificial water effects, decorative encapsulation or visible display casting.

It is particularly suitable when:

✓ A 1:1 weight ratio is preferred for production mixing
✓ A clear decorative cured appearance is required
✓ Natural bubble release is important to the visual result
✓ Moderate mixed viscosity is suitable for the pouring process
✓ A 30-minute working window at 25°C is practical for the batch size
✓ Room-temperature or controlled heat-assisted curing is acceptable

Consider another grade when…

Another epoxy grade should be evaluated when the project requires a specified deep-pour thickness, substantially longer working time at normal production temperature, very low viscosity for penetration, verified outdoor UV resistance, or performance data not covered by the YG102AB specification.

For large-volume casting, thick-section casting or applications where exothermic heat is critical, the required casting dimensions and batch size should be reviewed before selecting this grade because the available specification does not provide a recommended maximum pour depth.

Mixing, Curing & Application Guidelines

Processing Guidelines for Artificial Water and Clear Encapsulation
Clean working conditions, accurate mixing and controlled curing are important for transparent decorative applications because contamination, trapped bubbles and surface defects remain visible in the finished resin.

01 Prepare the Environment and Casting Area
For normal application, the product instructions recommend a working environment of 20–28°C with dry, ventilated and dust-free conditions. Avoid humid mist and direct sunlight during processing.
Molds, containers and casting surfaces should be clean, dry, level and free from water, oil and dust before pouring.

02 Measure and Mix Components
Measure YG102A resin and YG102B hardener accurately at: A:B = 1:1 by Weight.
Do not arbitrarily change the mixing ratio.
Mix continuously in one direction for at least 60 seconds until the material appears uniform, with no visible streaks, separation or cloudy areas.

03 Allow Natural Bubble Release and Pour Slowly
After mixing, allow the material to stand for approximately 2–3 minutes so entrained air can rise and release naturally.
Pour slowly into the prepared mold or decorative container to reduce additional air introduction. Small remaining surface bubbles may be removed with gentle warm air or manually where appropriate.

04 Control Working Time and Curing Conditions
The technical data includes reference working and curing times at 5°C, 15°C and 25°C to show how temperature affects processing behavior. These values should be treated as reference test data rather than recommended application temperatures.

For a 100 g reference batch, the working time is approximately:

  • 5°C: 60 min
  • 15°C: 45 min
  • 25°C: 30 min

At 25°C, the technical data lists:

  • Initial Cure: 2–4 h
  • Solid Cure: 6 h
  • Full Cure: 24 h

For normal production, follow the recommended 20–28°C application environment unless a different process has been evaluated. As temperature increases, working and curing times become shorter; lower temperatures extend the processing window and curing time.
Plan batch size and preparation sequence according to the actual working temperature and available handling time.
During curing, keep the casting undisturbed and protect it from water, moisture and vibration.

Manufacturing, Quality Control & Supply Support

Material Manufacturing and Application Support

As a material manufacturer, we support YG102AB for business customers evaluating artificial water, transparent encapsulation and decorative resin applications.

For clear epoxy systems, consistency in appearance, viscosity, component ratio and curing behavior is particularly important because changes in material condition may directly affect processing and the final visible result.

Our quality control process can include appearance inspection, viscosity evaluation, curing-behavior checks and cured-sample inspection according to production and product-control requirements.

For manufacturers, distributors and commercial material users, support can also include material selection, sample evaluation, application matching and bulk supply planning.

Before moving to larger production volumes, customers are encouraged to evaluate the material using their actual molds, decorative inserts, containers, pigments and processing conditions. This is especially important for transparent systems where substrate moisture, contamination, embedded materials and casting geometry can affect the final appearance.

FAQ

Q1. Is YG102AB specifically suitable for artificial water effects?
Yes. Artificial water resin and artificial flower water displays are specifically identified among the intended applications of YG102AB. The product is designed as a transparent two-component epoxy encapsulation system for decorative applications.

Q2. Is YG102AB a deep-pour epoxy resin?
The available specification does not provide a recommended maximum pour depth. It should therefore not be marketed as a deep-pour epoxy resin without additional technical data.
For thick or large-volume castings, confirm the casting dimensions, batch size and heat generation before selecting the grade.

Q3. How does temperature affect the working time?
Temperature has a significant effect on the processing window. For a 100 g reference batch, the working time is approximately 60 minutes at 5°C, 45 minutes at 15°C and 30 minutes at 25°C.
Production users should plan batch size according to the actual working temperature.

Q4. Does the resin require vacuum degassing?
The specification describes the formulation as having good natural bubble-release behavior and recommends allowing the mixed resin to stand for approximately 2–3 minutes before pouring.
However, the technical document does not state that vacuum degassing is never required for every casting size or geometry. The actual requirement should therefore be evaluated according to the application.

Q5. Can pigments or colorants be added to create blue or green water effects?
The current specification does not provide pigment compatibility data.
If colored artificial water is required, compatible colorants should be tested at small scale before production to confirm curing and visual appearance.

Q6. Can YG102AB be used outdoors?
The current technical data lists a yellowing-resistance test category but does not provide a numerical result or verified outdoor-weathering performance.
The product should therefore not be promoted as an outdoor UV-resistant epoxy based on the current document alone.
